How Our Sod Installation Works in Oakville, Mississauga, and the GTA
Four steps from the first site visit to the day you can walk on it.
1
Free On Site Soil Assessment
We check what is actually under your existing lawn: how compacted the ground is, where water sits after rain, and how much usable topsoil you have. GTA clay holds water and starves roots of air, so this decides how much prep the job needs. You get a written price before any sod is ordered.
2
Old Lawn Removal and Grading
We cut out the old lawn rather than tilling it under, which would only bury weeds and seed heads to come back later. Then we grade the surface so it falls away from the foundation, filling low spots so water runs off instead of pooling.
3
Topsoil and Fresh Sod
Where topsoil is thin we add screened soil to give roots something to grow into. Sod is cut at local farms and laid the same day it arrives. Rolls are staggered like brickwork and butted tight so the seams knit together instead of drying open.
4
Rolling and Your Watering Plan
We roll the new lawn to press the roots into contact with the soil, then walk you through the first two weeks of watering, which is what really decides whether it takes. Best install windows are late May into June, and September to mid October.
